How To Be A Rebellious Teen

Are you one of those people who want to be rebellious and completely different than anyone else? Do you want to show the world your individuality? Do you just want to be plain cooler than anyone else? Well I am here to help guide you on your path to becoming a rebellious teenager.

First off lets identify what kind of rebellious teen you want to be. I will cover two types, the punk teen and the gothic teen (to be covered in a later article). Let me go ahead and start with the punk teen.

Ok, so you want to be a punk? Good choice, not many people are daring enough to be a punk. You have to be hardcore and radical to be a punk. The first step to being a rebellious punk teenager is to first get into the music of a punk teen. To do this, you should watch MTV to find out what punk bands are happenin' and totally awesome. After some initial research I have established that you should buy some cds by these artists: Blink 182, All American Rejects (notice rejects, meaning that you are a non-conformist), Good Charlotte, and perhaps Simple Plan. Once you have these cds, you should listen to all of them to get the feel for the punk attitude. Just take this excerpt from the review of Simple Plan's album, No Pads, No Helmets...Just Balls : "Frontman Pierre Bouvier writes about skipping school, crashing dad’s car, and lusting after girls that don’t know he exists. 'Every day,' he sob, 'is the worst day ever.'"

So now you have the music, but what is next? Well no one will know you are a punk unless you look like one. Lets start with shirts. Of course you will need to have a shirt of your favorite band, you are supposed to be representing punk. Here is a shirt that will work perfectly:

I found this shirt to be especially good because it is a Blink 182 shirt. Here is a little backstory for you, Blink 182 started punk. They made up the whole punk genre basically. You should worship them like gods. I found this shirt at Hot Topic. Hot Topic will be your favorite store. Here is why: "The merchandise reflects a variety of music related lifestyles, which include street wear, retro influenced lounge, punk, club, and gothic." - Hot Topic About Us (bold by me). There is also another important accessory that you will need to have, a spiked wristband. This will show off your hardcore side. Hot Topic also carries spiked wristbands, so that will make it much easier when you are shopping for your punk accessories.

With all of these new clothes and cds, you are definitely rebellious now. People will look at you and say, "Wow, that person is so different from everyone else and is a complete rebel, I am totally scared."

Now to finish off the process of becoming a rebellious teen, you must obtain the attitude. The first step of developing the punk attitude is already accomplished, listening to the music. The most important thing you have to remember is to hate the jocks. They are your arch-nemesis. They stand for everything that you hate. Remember that most jocks listen to hip hop and the cd Jock Jams. You must also rebel against your parents, they are always trying to hold you down. Your parents will do anything to make your life miserable. Some examples of this are: making you clean your room, making you mow the lawn, and giving you a curfew to be back by 12. Obviously they don't want you to ever have fun, and they want you to have a horrible time in high school.

This guide should help you along the way to being a truly hardcore rebellious punk teenager who is different than everyone else. You will never give in to the corporate machine, you are too smart for that. You are one step ahead of the mindless sheep at your school who buy designer clothing and give into the mass media.
